Dear sir,

I am writing to you regarding development of the Talamone Marina.

I believe it is the duty of both central and local government to preserve and protect a country’s heritage, both natural and historic.

This is why I respectfully beg you, as Mayor of Orbetello, to reconsider the intention to build a new marina in a place on the edge of the Maremma Nature Reserve renowned for its natural beauty and historical interest.

Instead we ask to opt for a type of development more suited to the region and better meeting the needs of small sailing crafts.

A radical development such as the one presently planned would irreparably spoil both the landscape and the seascape of this small historic marina and the entire area.

Caro Sindaco,

Sono convinto che l’Amministrazione Pubblica, sia a livello centrale che locale, debba operare come custode dei valori paesaggistici, storici ed ambientali che costituiscono la vera ricchezza della comunità.

La invito come Sindaco del Comune di Orbetello a riconsiderare la scelta di costruire il nuovo porto, che con le sue opere imponenti stravolgerà gli aspetti paesaggistici, marini e urbanistici di un sito di riconosciuta bellezza e significatività storica posto ai confini del parco regionale della Maremma, privilegiando di converso come suggerito dal WWF forme di riqualificazione non solo più coerenti con la delicatezza del contesto, ma anche più rispondenti alle esigenze sociali della piccola nautica.
